Pearl Harbor Day Remembrance

Date: Not Currently Scheduled – Please Check Back

Ages: Family Event

Cost: $9.00

2013 marks the 72nd Anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, “…a day that will live in infamy.”

Commemorate this day by meeting together with other students to discover more about this important occasion.

In this one-session live class, we will:

  • look at what led the Japanese to bomb Pearl Harbor, and bring the United States into World War II.
  • we will listen to an audio clip of President Roosevelt’s address to Congress, examine President Roosevelt’s speech, and hear him in his own words (complements of Jim Hodge’s Audio)
  • uncover the bravery of some Medal of Honor recipients from WWII
  • take a virtual visit to the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial, above and below the water
  • discover interesting facts about the Hawaiian Islands
  • and take home a map of the Pacific Theater of war for further study

*This class is not intended to glorify war, or to denigrate the Japanese, but rather to teach about the history of World War II and the Pacific Theater.
